Geneva Motor Show 2019 - Pt.3
Part 3 of our Geneva Motor Show 2019 Blog is here! It's the final stretch and the final batch of cars!
Piech
Piech launched not only a car but their brand at Geneva with their electric sports car, the Mark Zero. Based in Switzerland their first car can go from 0-62mpb in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 155mph and can charge 80% of its battery in just under 5 minutes.
Bugatti
Bugatti unveiled their one-off special edition of the La Voiture Noire hyper car which celebrates the brands 110-year history. This one off has already been sold to a collector for around £9.5 million and features a lot of hand crafted carbonfibre parts.
The Bugatti Divo was also available to look at; this car has been named after the 2 time Targo Florio winner, Albert Divo. This hyper car has a top speed of 236mph and has had the steering tweaked since the previous models. The interior has also seen a change with some storage compartments being removed and a colour scheme of ‘Divo Racing Blue’ and ‘Divo Grey’. Bugatti are confident that this will be a road car as well on top of being suitable for the race track.
Morgan
Morgan, a British sports car maker, unveiled their new Morgan Plus Six at Geneva. This car is already available for pre-order with prices starting from £77,500. The exterior of the car remains true to the designs we are familiar with from this manufacturer whereas the interior has received more modern upgrades.
Bentley showed off their new Continental GT No.9 which celebrates their 100th birthday this year. This car will be limited to 100 units which will all be hand made in Crewe. Prices are yet to be confirmed but rumoured to be around the £200,000 region.
Bentley also showed us the new special edition car named after Bentley’s founder, the Mulsanne W.O Edition by Mulliner. Only 100 units will be made but they will feature the centenary badge and W.O’s signature on the lower bumper. The interior is Fireglow leather with red and black stitching. If a Bentley wasn’t fancy enough already, this edition has an illuminated cocktail cabinet.
Cupra
A year after confirming that Cupra will be a sub-brand of Seat, we have seen the first concept for the Cupra Formentor. This concept plug-in hybrid SUV appears to be the coupe version of the Cupra Ateca with a ‘floating dashboard layout’ and a heavy carbonfibre interior.
The Cupra Ateca was also seen at Geneva in the form of a special edition model which will be available in limited numbers after production and pre orders beginning later in the year. Prices are yet to be confirmed but it is rumoured to be available from around £35,000 for the base model.
Maserati showed off a one off edition of the Levante SUV – the Levante One of One. This model was commissions by Marchesi Antinori who are an Italian winemaking company. The One of One features a colour scheme of deep greens and copper accents on the interior to match the Tuscany vineyards.
The Levante Trofeo Launch Edition of the SUV was also on display after its first announcement at the LA Motor Show in 2018. 0-62pmph in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 186mph. The interior uses Pieno Fiore leather with matt carbonfibre inserts and a 17 speaker Bowers and Wilkins audio system as standard.
De Tomaso
De Tomaso – although not scheduled for a formal appearance – were seen at Geneva. The team at De Tomaso chose to drive their new camouflaged car around the venue area rather than having a stand to debut anything.
First seen at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the Smart Forease+ has been revealed at the Geneva Motor Show with the change to a removable roof. This concept was displayed to show the company’s plan for future Smart car designs. The interior features a modern-futuristic steering wheel and the air vents have been replaced with infotainment screens.
Toyota revealed another version of their Supra Sports Car with the Supra GT4 concept although they have said that the future of this model depends on interest from potential buyers as without the show for interest this won’t go into production.
Ferrari showed off their new F8 Tributo, 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds and with a top speed of 211mph, it features the latest version of the Side Slip Control and a new version of the Dynamic Enhancer Technology. The F8 Tributo also features an upgraded infotainment system as well as additional tweaks overall.
